About it.you

A practical IT toolbox for the people who keep things working.

Our mission

Free tools with clear boundaries

it.you exists because finding a reliable, free, privacy-respecting IT tool online is harder than it should be. Most tool sites are cluttered with ads, require unnecessary signups, send your data to servers without telling you, or stop working after a few uses.

We built it.you to be the opposite: a trustworthy, fast, and genuinely useful platform for IT professionals, developers, students, and support teams. Everything in our tool directory is free to use — no account required for the vast majority of tools.

What we build

We build and curate free IT tools across eight categories:

  • Developer Tools — JSON formatters, Base64 encoders, regex testers, UUID generators, diff checkers, and more
  • Networking & Sysadmin — DNS lookup, WHOIS, IP geolocation, subnet calculators, cron builders
  • Security — password generators, hash generators, bcrypt, JWT decoders, password strength checkers
  • Data Tools — CSV viewing, CSV-to-JSON and JSON-to-CSV conversion, and image data URIs
  • Productivity & Time — epoch converters, timezone converters, Pomodoro timer, date calculators
  • Image Tools — image resizing, compression, format conversion, and favicon generation
  • Reference — HTTP status codes, Linux commands, common ports, and color formats
  • Learning & Runbooks — an explained IT quiz and a runbook template builder

Alongside the tools, we publish practical IT guides on our IT Blog and hands-on learning paths. Our editorial policy explains how human, contributor, and AI-assisted drafts are reviewed before publication.

Our principles

  • Clear processing boundaries. Most tool interfaces process their input in the browser; network lookup tools require server-side processing. See our tool methodology for the checks and our Security page for the full distinction.
  • Clear current pricing. The current public catalog costs $0 and does not request a payment card. We describe future ideas separately from available features on the pricing page.
  • Editorial standards. Guides become public only after their sources, examples, links, original value, and byline pass the publication workflow. Read our Editorial Policy for the full standard.
  • Honest design. No dark patterns, no surprise paywalls, no fake urgency. Our Advertising Disclosure is transparent about how we may generate revenue.
  • Accessible. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Read our Accessibility statement for known limitations and how to report issues.

Platform features

Beyond the tools, it.you offers optional account features for saved favourites, profile controls, and a support inbox. The learning paths work without an account and keep progress locally in your browser.

Our public roadmap separates possible future work from current features, and the changelog records notable public changes.
